Twitter honour list [12th February 2010]

Thanks to those who have made Twitter a little more interesting this week….

A brief post on valuing the benefit of PR brought a short exchange between myself and PriteshPatel9. He pointed me to an interesting disassembling of the argument for using AVE (Advertising Value Equivalent - or how much you would have had to pay if the journalists' column inches were advertising) as a measure of success. Still not in full agreement with him and I may come back to this one.

Pritesh also made a helpful comment when I got my photoblog up and running. Both he and StrangeLoops suggested posterous. I'm sticking with Blogger for now.

The rise of the "Facebook for Business" guru caught the attention of David N Wilson. "Irritating, distasteful, and dishonest" was how he found those people who have brought out an ebook or set up a profile and now proclaim themselves experts on "Social Media Marketing." Every fad and technology trend I've seen in the past 20 years has their fair share of hangers-on, so be careful out there people!

Whether Linkedin was any good was a question for pafford. Sophisticated address book might be a good description for it!

On the more artistic side thanks to Iwasoutwalking for introducing me to some new music - and continuing to astound with her artwork.

And last, but not least, is BiscuitBiscuit. She got lost and created a novel use for Google maps. Stand in a field and wave your arms - eventually the satellite will take a picture. Of course, by then it might not be a rescue mission!
